EP Corner

Obviously, The Album Wall tends to concern itself with albums above all else, but every so often, it's nice to swing the spotlight over to the album's little brother.

I speak, naturally, of the Extended Play (EP). They're not quite albums, they're not quite singles...they're somewhere in between, and they've enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years. Your Bandcamps and your SoundClouds are allowing people to make and release/upload music all by themselves, and while not everybody has the resources to make a full-length album, it's not too difficult to write a strong, cohesive EP and put that up for download.

So, with the EP now entering a second golden age, EP Corner is something I'll be doing every so often to highlight some of my favourite extended plays. Some will be old, some will be new, but they'll all be awesome. And, uh, relatively short.

  1. Awesome! Small bands usually struggle to fund an LP, so great to highlight EPs. Strong work!
